	LOVE BOMBS: BRINGING BACK THE JOY #1 with Missy Nobels and Sharmaine Goldman SUNDAY JULY 10TH 1PM - 3PM @ The Crafty Shack - 775 Ross Way (next to Arbutus Building Supply) Join Missy & Sharmaine for an all ages workshop designed to kick the Dancing Man festival into high gear. Learn the art of "lovebombing", create a costume, play, develop a parade character that sets you free and get yourself ready to participate in the "Bringing Back the Joy" Mardi Gra style art parade at 4pm on Saturday July 16th. Workshop Fee: $10 for adults/$5 for children and youth under 16 yrs. Please Note: Children under 16 yrs must be accompanied by an adult.
	WEST AFRICAN DANCE and DRUMMING with Valerie Mermet and Dave McGrath SATURDAY JULY 16TH 11AM - 1PM @ The Poetry Yurt at the Commons Dance component: African dance with Valerie Mermet. Come and experience the thrilling high energy moves of African dance with the excitement of live drumming. No experience necessary - if you can jump you can dance! Drumming component: Explore the beautiful rhythms of West Africa in a fun and relaxing atmosphere and experience the profound effect that drumming can have on your life. Emphasis will be on learning proper technique as well as group playing and listening skills. All levels welcome. Dave McGrath a.k.a. "Voodoo Dave" is an enthusiastic teacher and performer of African and Latin percussion who loves to share his passion. As a teacher and facilitator, he has worked with a variety of community groups from corporate team building to children's festivals and schools. From the complete beginner to the more seasoned player, there's something here for everyone and a good time is guaranteed. Workshop Fee: $10 for adults/Free for children and youth under 16 yrs. 	INDIAN RHYTHMS with Sarah Buechi SUNDAY JULY 17TH 12:30PM - 1:30PM @ The Theatre Centre Are you looking for new inspiration in your compositions? Are your bored of the same rhythmical links, bridges, intersection of your songs? Do you think your melodies could get stronger through rhythm? In this workshop you will find an entirely new world full of ideas that will give your songs a touch of exoticness that blends in with every style of music. You will learn the advantage of the thinking process of Indian rhythm in order to effortlessly create complex structures that don`t change your songs but make them richer. Through understanding, listening to concrete examples, clapping and singing your own `Muktayams` the participants will learn how to involve Indian rhythm into their own songs as well as how to get very strong in rhythm through simple and fun exercises. Workshop Fee: $10 for adults/youth over 16 yrs old.
	SASS 101 - BURLESQUE WORKSHOP with Ginger Kittens of The Cheesecake Burlesque Revue SUNDAY JULY 17TH 2PM - 4PM @ Rose Crystal Studio The Cheesecakes have been honing their skills and now feel ready to pass some of their hard earned knowledge along! Representing the award-winning Cheesecake Burlesque Revue will be Miss Ginger Kittens, Victoria's Pin-Up Princess. Miss Kittens will teach you about: * History of Burlesque - learn where it all began * Stage Name Game - create your burlesque persona and LIVE IT! * Burlesque Movement - learn to bump & grind, shimmy and shake! * Making the most of props - boas, gloves and more! * Tassel Twirling Tit-orial - with The Cheesecake's world famous nipple tassels! * Putting it all together to music - practice your new skills to take home!
